Stray Cat TNR Spay/Neuter Funding
In order to try to curtail the stray cat population The Town of Blooming Grove has partnered with T.A.R.A. (The Animal Rights Alliance) to provide low cost spay/neuter services for TNR. The Humane Society of Blooming Grove will administer the program on behalf of the town. There will be a fee of $25.00 for the voucher paid by cash or check. Proof of residency is required as these vouchers are for Town Residents only (Including residents of Washingtonville and South Blooming Grove). There will be a limit of 2 per household. The person requesting the voucher will be responsible for making the appointment at T.A.R.A. as well as transporting and pickup of the cat from one of their mobile locations. If you would like more information on this program please submit your request by email to bghumanesociety@gmail.com.
NEVER LEAVE YOUR DOGS UNATTENDED IN CARS!!!
Whether it's winter or summer, NEVER leave your pets unattended in cars. Especially in the summer time, it only takes a short time for dogs to die from heat stroke. If you see a dog left unattended in a hot car call the police IMMEDIATELY.
Check Your Pets and Check Yourselves!!
Unfortunately tick season has already started in the Northeast. We have already had to take ticks off of the dogs when they were walked on warmer days. Please make sure you check your pets, especially around the ears, shoulders, and any other place ticks can hide. Be sure to check yourselves as well and if you do get a tick bite, if you start to show symptoms like a rash or a fever see a Dr. ASAP.
Always better to carry bottled water with you!!
It seems so convenient to just let your pup drink out of the river or stream that's nearby, or the lake, but it's not really the best idea. You carry bottled water for yourself, make sure you bring enough for your pup!
